Groundhog Day in Narnia

Dear Punxsutawney Phil,

You may have noticed the sounds of Dwarvish construction last night while you slept. Lots of shovels, axes, hammers ...

My Dwarves have hewn out a marvelously long staircase which you must climb in order to discover whether or not you can see your shadow to make your prediction about the six more weeks of winter or an early spring. Well as you know, it’s cold out there, and those stairs are snow-laden and treacherously slippery.

So if it were me, I simply wouldn’t bother. It’s not really worth the trouble, is it? Much better to enjoy a nice piece of Turkish Delight with a cup of tea, go back to bed, snuggle up under the covers, and carry on with hibernation.

Most sincerely and as ever with your own best interests at heart,

I remain,

Jadis

Queen of Narnia

Hah, well Queen, I certainly hope you can dig yourself out or NOT! I guess being the Queen you can decide for yourself!
What ever your day brings; enjoy!

Sources say Phil didn't see his shadow -- did you see any tracks on your steps from his visit?

I would rather prefer spring to come and have any sort of delights outside and not inside a house:)

Cool (and I guess I mean that literally) stairs! Well, Jill saw her shadow (and very cold outside air) and popped right back into her house this morning.... so I would say we are going to have 6 more weeks of Winter. LOL!

If only Phil had a choice as to whether to sleep in or not - but when you're shocked from slumber in order to see whether there's a shadow or not...

Well I must say, oh gracious Queen, that as tired as I am of winter, your Narnian stairway looks absolutely magical. I think I would even give up the Turkish Delights to go and explore it. (I say that from the comfort of my cozy home as I'm looking out the window at the snow falling!)

No, I would not bother. I do not think the groundhog seeing his shadow has a thing to do with the weather. Only one "Man' controls that.

Enjoyed your post... and all of your snowy pics on your blog. Sigh... I'm green with envy. Please send snow to NC :-)

Really cute scenario.. but so many people are counting on him, even though it is a slippery slope to trod.

I heard that spring is supposed to come early - but I'll 'settle' for Turkish delight any day of the week or time of the year :D

Ha! That photo looks like it very well could be the ruins of Cair Paravel. It was only a few weeks ago that I realized that Turkish Delight is a real candy and not just a fairy tale confection. :)

thats a goodun. We go by Rock Chuks here in Wyo. He saw his shadow but again in Wyoming that is a delight. Only 6 weeks would be a dream. having only 3 seasons here-Last winter, this winter and next winter.

Well, the groundhop here (at the local zoo actually) didn't see his shadow. However, it has been snowing and freezing cold Still ever since. Ugh...
